The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships cover tuition, books, ancillary fees, and full residence support for four years. The scholarship for first degree programs can only be defended at the University of Toronto. Each year, approximately 37 students will be named Lester B. Awarded annually, these scholarships recognize outstanding students from around the world, including international students studying at Canadian secondary schools. This is U of T’s most prestigious and competitive scholarship for international students.
Eligibility Criteria:
To become a Pearson Scholar, you must be nominated by your school and apply for an undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto. Ask your school guidance counselor for a nomination. Once you have been nominated and applied to the University of Toronto, you will be sent a personalized secure link to apply for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship.
Pearson Scholars are students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and creativity, who are recognized as leaders within their school, and who have the potential to contribute to the global community in the future. They can be distinguished from other students who may be equally high achievers based on their breadth of interest, intellectual energy, and impact on their school and community life.
To apply for a Pearson International Scholarship, you must be:
- An international student (ie a non-Canadian requiring a study permit);
- You are currently in your last year of high school or you graduated in June 2022 at the earliest
- Commencing at the University of Toronto in September 2023 (students already attending post-secondary cannot be considered; students starting in January 2023 at another post-secondary institution cannot be considered)
